Discover your truth
Zen is a concept or a state of mind that cannot be fully explained through language. It is like trying to describe the feeling of the Sahara desert to someone who has never been there, it is something that can only truly be understood through personal experience.
Beginner’s Mind
Shōshin refers to having a "Beginner's Mind" when approaching a subject, meaning having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and a lack of preconceptions. This is true in martial arts, the black belt must continue to approach their training with the same mindset as a white belt.
No Mind
Mushin meaning "No Mind" is a state being achieved when a person's mind is free from negative thoughts such as anger, fear, ego or emotions during combat or everyday life. This allows a person to act and react towards an opponent without hesitation and without being hindered by distracting thoughts.
Immovable Mind
Fudōshin refers to a state of mind that is unshaken by distractions, characterised by calmness and composure. The term literally means "Immovable mind."
Remaining Mind
Zanshin is a concept in Zen Buddhism that refers to a state of relaxed alertness and heightened perception. It is characterised by being aware of one's body posture, potential threats, and the surrounding environment while executing techniques. It translates to "Remaining spirit".
